Episode 2 - Dr. Vasant Kumar
Vasant Kumar is the head of Materials Chemistry at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. He started his undergraduate career at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He then went on to McMaster University to earn his Doctorate of Philosophy in Materials Engineering. He went on to join Cambridge in 1996, becoming renowned for his research in sustainable energy technology and recycling and recovery of essential materials. He has authored over 320 papers. He is also known for his sensor technology. He is working to fight against the multitude of the existential environmental crisis we face. He has had many notable achievements, including becoming a fellow of Trinity Hall, multiple honorary professorships, and awarded the Kroll medal for the significant contribution that has enhanced the scientific understanding of materials chemistry.
