McMaster Steel Bridge Team

The McMaster Steel Bridge Team is a student run team that creates a 21ft long bridge made out of steel from start to finish. Not only does the team design and build the bridge, but testing of the steel parts to analyze their mechanical properties is integral to the process. The team also completes materials selection to determine which type of steel should be used, and performs failure analysis on bridge parts to optimize their design.

Overall, the collaboration between Materials Engineering and Civil Engineering is used to strengthen this team.

McMaster Baja Racing

McMaster Baja Racing provides members with intimate technical and design experience through developing and producing a performance off-road vehicle. Students are provided the opportunity to gain specialized skills through on-going vehicle component development within specialized subteams consisting of: Business, Chassis, Data Acquisition, Driver Controls, Drivetrain, Ergonomics, and Suspension.

We 3D print chassis jigging for welding purposes and suspension components, occasionally perform failure analysis, and work with aluminum, steel, brass, titanium and more! Our team performs welding, machining, and assembly, and have worked with the MSE department to determine the heat affected zone of welding for one of our suspension models.
